Although it is not a wildly popular activity, Miri does have a good number of enthusiastic kite-flyers compared to many other places I’ve been to.
Not popular anymore? Here in Portugal we still can see them flying over the beaches during summer. We call them “papagaio” (parrot).
What a portrayal of optimism this photo is! I love it, the color, the upward motion, the arrow-shape of the kite–it’s so positive.
@xana: I have heard of Kite Competitions and seen a lot of colourful kites during the competitions, but I haven’t really seen many outside of competitions.
