Australia’s Curtin University opened an off-shore branch here in Miri a few years ago. Last Sunday, they held their annual Open Day. Sumo wrestling was involved. There were other things, but that was my highlight.

What an great shot! I saw one of the contests years ago, indoors at a great big country music dance hall/bar. I’d forgotten all about it until I looked at your picture. Thanks.
You saw a real life sumo contest? Wow! How was it?
Real sumo wrestling is neat to watch and often the little guy beats the larger man. So far they have no lady sumo wrestlers. I like your photo as it shows what I thought, on the portal, might be sumo wrestlers.
I need to go watch a suma match now…
I wonder if the reason there are no lady sumo wrestlers is from centuries of female image issues.
Great action shot! This looks like so much fun and no one gets too hurt.
oh wow..
did you try to sumo wrestle too? it looks fun eh?
@Felicia: Thanks 🙂 It’s so hard to get hurt even if you tried. When you fall to the ground, the suit is so thick someone has to pick you up to get you back on your feet.
@Keropokman: I did sumo wrestle and yes, it is fun. You become like a big human-sized ball and just go crazy bouncing and pushing around.
